In this regard, we have definitely witnessed some improvement in major domains, however, there are still some areas of concern. While issues with network and display have been documented countless many times, surprisingly not much attention has been given to the charging segment. A slew of complaints is lined up across Google Forums wherein users have voiced their frustration over the “Connected but not charging” error on Pixel 7 Pro.
Whenever users plug in their device to the charger, it just displays the aforementioned error message and the device doesn’t tend to charge. If you are also witnessing a similar issue, then this guide will make you aware of a few nifty workarounds that shall help you rectify this bug. So without further ado, let’s get started.
Fix Pixel 7 Pro “Connected but not charging” Error
It is recommended that you try out each of the below-mentioned workarounds and then see which one spells out success for you. So with that in mind, let’s get started.
FIX 1: Use Google’s PD PPS charger
The latest flagships seem to be only giving out the desired result when used with a PD PPS charger [30W]. While you might have your own Samsung or OnePlus fast charger, but even that might not be able to charge these devices. So as infuriating as it may sound, but you will have to use only the PD PPS charger from a reputed seller, one of which is Google.
FIX 2: Disable Adaptive Charging
When you plug in your device to the charger at night, the Adaptive Charging feature will keep the battery charged to a maximum of 80% throughout the night. Then when it’s time for you to wake up, it will complete the rest of the charging process so that you get a fully charged device. But how does it determine your wake-up time? Well, it primarily uses the alarm that you have set up and your daily usage routine. And while it does its job quite well, it still has a long way to go. This is because some users have voiced their concern that once they wake up, they still find their device stuck at 80% charging. So they again have to restart the charging process which in turn ends up exhausting a considerable amount of time So you could consider disabling this feature and then charging your device all at one go. Here’s how:
FIX 3: Charge in Safe Mode
In some instances, a third-party app or service might conflict with the normal process of device charging. Therefore, you should consider charging your device in Safe Mode which would give you an ecosystem free from all third-party apps and services. If your device is charging well and good, then the culprit is indeed a third-party app that needs to be removed from your device right away. Here’s how it could be done:
FIX 4: Charge in Power Off State
For some users, charging the device in a power-off state did the job for them. It goes along the obvious lines that doing so might result in you missing important calls and messages, so only carry out this tweak during non-working hours period. Apart from that, some users did report success after turning off their phones> plugging it into the charger > and restarting their devices. So try out this tweak and check out the results. That’s it. These were the numerous methods to fix the issue of the Pixel 7 Pro being “Connected but not charging”. As far as the official stance on this matter is concerned, the developers are yet to acknowledge this issue, let alone give out any ETA for the rollout of a fix. As and when any of these two things happen, we will update this guide accordingly. In the meantime, the aforementioned workaround is your best bet.
UPDATE: The issue is with your software, Google!
Initially, most of the complaints from the user had one thing in common- they were using a different charger than what has been recommended by Google. However, now, even users who are using the official Google PD PPS charger [30W brick] and even Pixel Stand are getting bugged by this problem.
So it seems to be a software-side issue after all. However, you shouldn’t expect any immediate rollout of a fix because the issue is not widespread and is only affecting a handful of users, which might be a small subset of users for the users to act upon.
